The Mumbai attack involved 10 (yes, only 10) men with rifles. If this attack would have happened in a hotel in Indiana, they probably would have been outnumbered 20-to-1 with CCW permit holders in the building, making their odds for a successful attack much more slim.
Watch out for copy-cats in the coming months. When one crack pot sees all the press these guys are getting decides he wants to be on the front page, who knows what he'll do...
This is why we check to make sure the gun's unloaded before handling it. Every time. No exceptions.
1) Safe direction (glad it wasn't pointed at the young girl or at something more important than his leg).
2) Finger off the trigger (one flaw in the Glock-- you squeeze the trigger to disassemble, that's why the 3rd rule is so important)
3) Keep UNLOADED unless you're using it.
Talking about gun safety is not using the gun, especially if you're disassembling the gun to clean it. Check to make sure it's unloaded every time you pick it up.

80 dead, over 250 injured...
Pools of blood at five star hotel...
TERRORIST RUN AMOK IN MUMBAI...
What they're not telling you: It is nearly impossible for a law-abiding citizen to own a gun in Mumbai. So who has the guns? The terrorists and the police. Normal citizens are left helpless to attack.
Past this, note that the terrorists were searching for American and British citizens (as reported on ABC tonight). So Americans visiting, who may have the ability to protect themselves at home, aren't given that right in Mumbai.
When guns are outlawed, only outlaws have guns...

Looks like it isn't working out so great. Disarm the good guys and all is left is the bad... and they're armed against defenseless victims.
This is the sort of thing Democrats have been pushing for a long time. Don't make guns illegal, but limit what you can have to a very small range of options. Options they deem "safer" (read less lethal, and therefore less effective against attack).
We need to watch out for the slippery slope of gun laws. As things pass, we must fight to keep our rights. Afterall, Mexico has their own version of the 2nd Amendment, and it hasn't stopped politicians there from stripping away nearly all gun rights...

It's a slippery slope with gun rights--they'll come after the low-hanging fruit like 'assault rifles,' high-cap mags, and registration, first. All of these lead to stricter regulations that will effect your ability to purchase, own and carry guns in ways you might not suspect.
A 'common sense gun law' should be met with suspicion and careful review. Should a tragedy occur, like another college shooting, the reactionary anti-gunners will pounce on the opportunity to cripple your rights.
Hold on, dig in, and don't lose hope!

If your still on the fence about local or national elections, the NRA has a good guide at www.NRA-PVF.org. Put your zip code in and it'll tell you how the candidates on your ballot feel about guns.
And, if you're like me and like to do a second patriotic thing on election day, buy a gun. I'm putting in an order for a new AR-15 (never know what a new president and congress will do!).
On Tuesday, you'll make the most important vote of your life.
Sen. Obama is the single most anti-gun presidential candidate in this nation's history. So it is more important than ever to VOTE PRO-GUN and make sure he doesn't get a chance to destroy decades of gun rights progress.
Download your voter guide NOW <http://www.buckeyefirearms.org/Voter-Guide> and vote for the men and women who have shown their support for your rights.
Take your friends and family to the polls. Give your work mates a ride. We all need to show up in force to defeat Obama, anti-gun Ohio candidates, and all the cartoon characters and dead people who have illegally been registered in Ohio.
Don't let this election be stolen. Don't let our rights be stolen. VOTE. And vote PRO-GUN!
