We often get the question: what are the best carry guns? Depends on who you ask, how you carry, and your tolerance for recoil, but it's hard to go wrong with snub-nose revolver. Utterly reliable and easy to use, a 357 magnum gives you the option of shooting 38sp or 357's, and it'll work every time you pull the trigger. Just watch out for the ultra-lights or guns with very short grips--this makes it harder to hit what you're aiming at and uncomfortable for many to shoot.
The Taurus 617 is an example of a near-perfect snubby. It's not too light, the grips let you get all your fingers on it, it's a 6-shot (most snubs are 5), and it's got a lifetime warranty. There's also a very similar gun made by Rossi, which is owned by Taurus, that one of our instructors carries and loves.
